Give membership tiers clear benefits and clear limits

Operator Briefing

The idea

Make the intended role of each membership tier visible, and describe the limits as clearly as the headline benefits.

Evidence

Revue’s Loyalty Card combines admission and popcorn discounts, a film-and-popcorn reward after ten visits with exclusions, birthday admission, member screenings with a guest and AGM voting. Higher Individual and Family tiers include entry to specified films and events but exclude named special-event series and print screenings. The page says membership sales are final. Reduced senior and student regular tickets receive no additional loyalty discount.

Operator takeaway

A lower-commitment tier can reward visits and introduce social benefits. A higher-commitment tier can support more frequent participation. Whether either changes behaviour depends on its cost and on what members would have bought anyway.

Try this

Map each existing benefit to a purpose: trial, frequency, bringing a guest or supporting the organisation. Produce a short comparison showing eligible screenings, guest rules, expiry and exclusions before purchase. Test the explanation with occasional and frequent visitors. Do not add benefits without costing their use.

Measure

Compare joiners’ visits before and after membership, renewal, guest use and subsequent guest purchases where consent permits. Estimate contribution after discounts, redeemed benefits and administration, allowing for purchases that would otherwise have been full price.

Watch out for

Member numbers, retention and financial results are not reported. Unlimited admission is restricted to eligible programming. Benefits and exclusions vary by tier; readers should check the current operator terms before joining. No evidence establishes that these tiers increase visit frequency or improve net contribution.

Operator and timing

Revue Cinema, Toronto, Canada. A standing membership page reviewed on 2 November 2026; no current launch date is established, and the tiers and guest benefit are not presented as launched this week. Sources reviewed 2 November 2026.

About prices

Membership prices are not reproduced here. The fetched membership text does not state the currency explicitly, and the linked checkout exposes no readable terms. Check current prices, currency and any applicable charges directly with the cinema.

Resources

A clear benefits table, eligibility rules in the ticketing system and reporting on visits, rewards and renewals.
